'90 Targa. Fuse is ok for Driver side window - What to check next?

I have a problem with my Driver side window...it just stopped working this morning in down position.

I looked at the fuse box to find which fuse powered the window , tested/changed the fuse and it is ok.

What should I try next?

Is there a relay behind the fuel guage on the '90? If so, how do I check it? I knew I should have bought Wayne's book...

Also, is there a way for me to roll the window up until I figure out what the problem is?

Thanks,

fduvall

check the switch. You can switch driver and passenger switches to check it. Can you hear the relay trigger when you do the passenger side? If so, you should be able to hear the driver's side trigger. I don't know that car, does it have two relays - one for each side?

I agree. Try swapping the switch. I just did the same and it takes all of 5 minutes. Just gently pry back the switch with a flat-head screwdriver and there are a few prongs to deal with, but no raw wires. (Be careful not to pull the actual framing for the switch) (if your window switch is the same as mine). If you need a new switch, I believe our host sells them for a reasonable fee (30 bucks or so). Easy fix.

I am checking prices right now...it appears that there are two choices; Kostal for 49.25 or APA for 14.75. Anyone know the difference?

Have prices changed recently, as everyone seemed to think they were $30.00?

Yes,

You are correct. I looked at the switches for my year, much less. 14 and 20 bucks. Try swapping the switch with another already in your car before you invest in the part.

Good luck,

Does anyone know what the difference is between the APA and the Kostal window switch. APA is a lot cheaper ($15.00) than the Kostal ($49.25). Could the quality be that much different?

Would appreciate any feedback.
