Hi chaps, what a superb forum for technical and innovative information about Porsches. I have just joined. Here is my question:
I have an excellent body of a 1969 long wheel base 912 and I would like to put a 3.0 or a 3.2 engine with a 915 tranny in. I noticed that the engine mounts are different. Do I need to do anything to the chassis to install the six-cylinder engine mounts? I can see on the back of the chassis legs two triangles (one on each side). Is it sufficient to drill there and install the new engine mounts, or do I have to re-enforce them to withstand the heavier engine weight. Also, can the tranny be mounted without problems? the 912 tranny (901) has a relatively small mount bracket? How many brackets does a 915 gear box/diff require? please advise? regards mad prof |
