CV boot frustration

How the heck to you get these buggers on. I think I've already squished all of the grease out of them and still don't have them on. I was told to slide the boots on once they're on the car. Seems almost impossible especially once you get grease on them.

Thanks, Joe

Can you sense the frustration.

Are you having trouble at the axle or the CV side? Are the half-shafts off, or on the car?

Off the car, I slid new CV boots on each half shaft before I reassembled and greased the CV's.

They are on the car. I'm only on the first one at the wheel side. Looks like the trans side isn't going to be any easier. I sense I should have done this off the car?

do it off the car. is a hell lot easier

Yes - off the car. Without a doubt.

Are you just changing the boots? Most boot kits come with CV grease, I'd clean a repack while you have them off. A little messy, but worth it.

Took em off the car. The technique is to roll them back kinda like a condom. Now I need some fresh axle gaskets.

Thanks, Joe
