1977 Catalyst?
The sticker in my doorjam says "No Catalyst" and my smog check guy interpreted that as meaning a '49 state' car. I have read that all 1977s were made to California spec emissions.
Do all 1977s have this sticker? Yet we all had thermal reactors from new? Are those not catalyst and/or smog equipment?

I don't believe catalysts were used on 911s until 1980.
Thermal reactors are exactly that...a device that runs high temp as part of emissions controls to ensure more complete and thorough burn of the by-products of combustion...no catalytic ( "chemical conversion") process was used. However, "both" items are emissions control components. - Wil

I suppose by definition heat could be classed as a catalyst (anything that speeds up a chemical process). Was always curious what thermal reatcors were for.
