1st oil change on the 911, last drive before winter
Just wanted to yet again say thanks to this board. I changed the oil on the SC today after it's 2nd last drive with the fuel stabilizer in the tank.
All I can say is that I'm glad I got the 12 liter oil pan that's totally open. You guys weren't kidding when you said the oil comes out fast. I'm happy to say, though that contrary to everyone saying oil will spill all over the place first time you change your oil, I didn't spill a drop! Having the right oil pan and preparing for the wave were the keys. Thanks again for a great resource! See you on the road next spring, and on this board over the winter for more fixes and improvements....

I just did my first oil change too. I only spilled about 1/2 a quart.
In case anyone hasn't done this yet, make sure you use a big deep bucket to catch the oil. A kitty liter bucket or a 5 gallon bucket would work great. The oil comes out so fast and with such velocity that it splashed off the top of my 12 quart catch pan. Fortunately I had another bucket close by. :-) |
