87 wiring question, please help!

Hi folks,

I yanked an aftermarket alarm out of my car last nite and this red\green wire was joined to a wire in the alarm's harness. I'm not sure which fuse it's supposed to attach to. Can anyone take a look at their relay panel and set me straight as to which number fuse it goes to? Thanks very much!

ianc

P.S. Bentley is on order...

It goes to the bottom of fuse #11. Indicator lights/reversing light.

Edit: Now that I go out and look at it, there are already two (factory) wires on the bottom of fuse 11. These are smaller gage wires, and they are green with a red stripe. The mystery one is red with a green stripe and of a heavier gage. It also doesn't look like it will reach down to the bottom; I would say it belongs on the top somewhere. Any idea?

In looking at my Bentley manual, it shows a red/green wire connecting to fuse #3(25A) , block #1 (10 fuse) which looks like the fuse for the fuel pump. The wire appears in the engine management diagram for 86-87. I do not have a Carrera so I can not confirm this.

Okay, here we go again. There is a larger gauge "red wire with a green stripe" that is for the fuel pump. It goes to the top of the #6 fuse. Apparently the alarm installer wanted to make sure that the car couldn't be driven away so they installed a fuel pump cutout. Make sure you solder the end if its been cut and stripped.

Both of you, thanks very much. I hadn't tried to start the car yet, but I just read OSI's post before going out and no startie. I plugged the wire into #6 and it fired right up. Have not soldered yet, but I will. Thanks again,

ianc
