Heat Exchanger Clean Up
I pulled my heat exchangers and am looking for some direction as to how to clean them, any advice? Hot tank? Bead blast? Oven cleaner? What about fumes down the road? Also what material are the HEs made of? They are off a 1987 911.

During this summers rebuild I took the opportunity to bead blast them clean. They still were showing ther age so figured what the .... I'll paint them with the silver 1500 degree paint I had left over from the cam covers. Three coats cured in the oven (with wifes OK but the fumes were pretty bad) and they came out great. Even the cross over pipe is still looking great after three months as is the cat bypass pipe.

If the interior received oil drippings I'd suggest a radiator repair shop for an acid dip.
