What's the newest seat that will bolt into a 1974 911?

I'd like to update the seats in a 1974 911 and wanted to know what year is the newest seat that would directly bolt in without any modifications?

Will a 993 or 964 seat bolt in? Do I have to stick to a pre-1989 seat?

Thanks in advance!

Ruff1, look closer, you have a set of adapter plates or a complete set of custom sliders to get those seats mounted. They did not mount to the holes in the 73 chassis.

Can I fit a 993 seat into a pre-1989 car?

Yes you can but maybe you need to do some mods.

Steve,

Jason Cullen on this board has 993 seats in his turbo, see his engine rebuild post for year info.

As I understand it, the 993 seats are a direct fit, after that, you need to mod some. Others have said the modification of later seats is not that bad.

Let's see some pics of your new '74!!!

i previously had mid 70's vinyl seats and replaced them with 85 4-way power seats that bolted into the same rail adapters in my 72. so, i'm pretty confident that 74-85 have the same seat rails/bolt locations. IIRC, the rails are about 18" across, measuring from the outside to outside.

good luck

Actually, she ended up being a 1975 911S. So are you telling me that it will fit but will not directly bolt in?

Thanks, Chris!

Nice grab Steve!

What I was trying to say was that I saw Jason's seats and if I remember correctly, he said they were a direct fit, no fabbing required. Shoot him a PM, or even better, call him. His number has been posted a lot, but I don't have it handy. Sorry.

Keep me posted on your smog free project

74 up to 993 match up. 996 and boxster are different, and 73 and older are different. remember you may need power seat wiring that the 75 likely doesn't have.
