What my 911 got for Christmas
When we moved to this old house last year, one of the big compromises I made was to forego immediate shelter for my 911. The guy I bought the car from threatened to reclaim it as it has been garage-kept all its 23 years - until I moved it here. It keeeeeled me to leave the car out in the weather.
I had a few ideas about how to go about it. Eventually we will have a garage, and attaching that to the house will involve undoing all the decking. So we designed this project to be as simple and cost-effective as possible. Basically we extended the deck and covered the underside so that we could park underneath. We also added that metal roof over the steps so we can have shelter up to the door. As of today, Voila! Carport!  It ain't real purty, but it's perfect for our needs. We also replaced the old unwieldy wooden rolling gate with a light chain-link gate that has an electric opener. So now we just pull up, hit a button, and drive right into the carport. No more hassling with the gate in the dark & bad weather! Again, not purty but it works!  I hope my 911 is happy in her new parking spot. I am one very happy girl today! Yeehaw!
