Early 911 Gas Tank Repair?

I'm working on the suspension on my 72 911T and I happen to notice that there is a soft spot towards the rear of the tank near the drain. It is a bit damp but not with fuel, kind of a rusty oily smelling gook.

My guess is that I should pull the tank and have it repaired.

What is the process for cleaning/repairing?

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Ian

I've had gas tanks professionally repaired and it is far cheaper to find a used replacement, especially in something as common as a 911.

Ian,

I have a tank out of my 72 that I won't be using. Glad to let it go for a very reasonable price.

Just let me know.
