Front tranny mount on a VW bug

Got it fixed.....did some surgery...had a brain fart and remembered what I did 30 years ago....just needed beer....and a fart....

From my years VW sandrails, I think you need to completely remove the main tranny bolts (at the rear of the tranny) and pull the whole thing back before you can get the mount installed. Just not enough clearance otherwise.

Are you sure the new mount (on the right in your pic) is correct? I have never seen one like that. Seen solid ones for off-road, and the stockers, but none like that. Hard to visualize how that one actually goes in.

You should be able to hold it up on a floor jack and have someone steady the motor as you do this.

Been awhile, but that is what I remember.

I notched the bottom hole and was able to slip it in.....next order of business is a set of trans straps....

Make sure you get the "padded" version. The all steel ones will give you too much feedback.
