MFI cams with CIS?

I am starting to clean up the engine before I install it back into my 73 coupe. I was taking the tin off and it looks like Ive got an MFI cam. I assume that what's sticking out the back. It turns when the engine turns.

Its alway's fun trying to figure out just what a PO has done. It ran fine on the trip home so I'm not going to get to worried about it now.

Looks like you've also got an MFI heat exchanger there. Assume your engine is a 73.5. What is the engine number?

The engine is a 72. I figured he swaped out the block and kept the cis heads ect. I'm not sure about the cams though. I have a heat exchanger off a 69 im planning on swapping out.

Of coarse the seller told me it was the original motor. I got the car for a decent price, but it would have been nice if it did have the original motor.

So if that is a '72 engine, is it an "E"? Why would there be CIS on a '72 engine of any kind? Do you know the engine number for this motor? Just curious...as you say, this kind of detective work is always kind of fun.

Cool

The MFI heat exchangers have a little seperate box for a preheater to the MFI pump.

I think I would ditch the muffler and go with a sport variety because it will fit on your car.
