Let's play.. Where does this part go...
I found a part called a "console stopper" under the drivers seat of my 86 Carrera. I looked for a while and I do not see where this part is supposed to attach. I infer from the name that is attaches to the center console (between the seats). Is this correct? Please enlighten me fellow Pelican's.

This looks like the part that supports the door lock switch, fader switch, and A/C control cluster in the center console. There should also be a couple of gold screws that hold it in place.
|
This part has a hole in the back for a screw.. Please please provide a photo so I can see how this is installed? Does it install behind the console or below the controls?
Thank you in advance.. Sorry... I'm a newbie. |
If memory serves, it mounts in the consle under the cluster of switches. Unfortunately, I don't have an exploded diagram of the center console to share with you. You may want to search for 'center console' in the Pelican parts catalog and see if you can find a good diagram. Maybe someone else on the BBS can help with a picture. good luck!

I found that part in the door pocket of my 911 when I got it in 1995 and I just got around to tossing it this summer. I never did find out what it went to!

I've dismantled two 84's and have never seen this part.
How do you know it's called a console stopper? What are its dimensions? |
I obtained this part information from Pelican.
Center Console Plastic Stop Piece, 911 (1986-89) 911-552-519-00-OEM The part number is molded into the part. Does anyone have a PET exploded view showing this part? Thank you in advance. |
It look like a credit card holder to me

Believe it or not, if its the part I'm thinking of its # 10 on 911mot's diagram.

no, i got #10 sitting on my bench, at that aint it.
how big is that part, in the picture? |
The part is approximately 1" x 1" x 1/2" thick. Any other guess.. I appreciate the help thus far but it doesn't look like it's on the PET diagram above.
Help, help :) |
I think part number 10 on the PET diagram above is correct. Here is a screenshot that shows the part number you posted above...

Vash is definitely correct - it's not number 10, as I have removed that piece of molded plastic from my console. I don't know what purpose it actually served.

Ok fellow Pelicans.. I'm now taking my console apart to find out where and what this part is supposed to do. After studying the PET diagram it appears that this part is supposed to be installed behind the A/C controls. Maybe it supprts the rear of the A/C control (#15 on the PET diagram). I've never had the console apart, but it's a good time since I want to check out the shifter bushings as a winter project anyway.
Thank you for posting the PET diagram for my viewing pleasure :) Thanks again.. |
I have had the center console apart several times in my '86 Targa and this looks exactly like the part attached to the driver's side supporting the switches.

I also am working on my console and can not figure out how to install it.from what I understand it holds the A/C part of the console from sliding back ,but can't figure out where it goes
Thanks Erick |
If somebody can send me an e-mail, I'll send a picture to upload of it installed. I can't get it to do it from here.
