I took Scruffy in to the body shop to have a few minor things fixed. While she was in the shop someone broke the pull for the gas door. She was low on fuel so I took her to the gas station for a fill up and reached for the pull and the entire assembly came out in my hand...
Anyone know how to get it open in a case like this? Thanks James ps they also broke the part of the latch assembly for the oil tank door. I am sure it will be fun to find that part...

James, inside the fender you will see the filler neck going up into the bucket under the filler door. There will be a rubber gaitor covering the filler neck and sealing it to the bucket. There will be a round clip that secures the gaitor to the bucket. pry this off and slide the gaitor down the neck. Then just reach in and pull down on the two prongs for the latch. The gas door should spring open.
you will not be able to fish something down the filler door tubing. There is a steep kink in it that will allow a flexible cable but nothing more stiff. good luck.

thanks Jamie. I really appreciate it. I don't have tools and am stuck 40 miles from home at the moment so this saves me big time.
I will let y'all know how it works out. James

Jamie,
I got it open, just like you said, THANKS! It was dark and absent your tip I would have been there for days. The tank took 19.5 gals! She was low on fuel! James
