Expert Advice Wanted
Okay, I know this may not be the most appropriate forum for this discussion, but what are your opinions/ predictions on the market for 996 C4S's? The reason I ask is a family friend is offering me one at a great price (about $10k below trade in value). It's fully optioned and has the X-51 package. Flame away.

Better value holding than the non "S" versions, the X-51 is one of the few great options for these worth having.
So if you have to have a 996, this is the best one to have.

Tons of them made, and the 996 was not all the HUGE cult success like type of car the 993 is. Just my .02 cents. Thats a heck of a friend to give you 10 thousand bucks.

I agree with both of you. I passed it up. It is a really cool car though. Great sound, brakes, power.

I know, I know AND it was more like $15-20K on the open market since it was offered to me at $10k under trade-in value. I could never purchase it and then sell it in order to make a quick profit, it would be the wrong thing to do, he's a good friend with a serious Porsche passion. He wanted me to have the car since he knows I too have the same passion albeit at a different price level. He's trading it on a new 997 C4S x-51 w/ ceramic brakes and all options. Cool car for sure. I can't wait to take it for a test drive!
