RSR / IROC Radio Delete Plate
I am looking into trying to make an RSR / IROC radio delete plate as seen in this picture:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1133380888.jpg Does anyone have a better picture or access to one of these plates to take a better picture for me. I have a design done already. The only change that I have done is to move the R for reverse to the bottom right instead of the top left. I looks like that is where it was on the original. I don't think my car has a 7300 redline either, but I am not sure. The clutch term applies though, sometimes I need to double the effort. The R in my design is kind'a lousy I would like to improve on that, any hints? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1133381508.jpg I am looking into ways to get this onto a piece of aluminum. My measurments are 8.125 inches wide by 1.75 inches high. I saw these measurements from a previous post can anyone confirm those measurements for a 74+ car? If someone already makes these can you point me in that direction, I can't seem to find any. Rich |
I would just find someone who does stickers and make extras to sell, then just stick it on a piece of aluminum you fabed yourself.
MikeZ on the board does some graphic work and can probably help you. |
I contacted Mike he siad they sell on ebay, but I can't find them? Didn't want to bother him anymore.

IROC Delete Plate Stickers
Hello,
Thats my car, and those are stickers that I had made, both 901 and 915 trans. I went to Rennsport II, and saw the sticker on one of the IROC cars there. I took a photo and had the stickers made to fit a radio delete plate, part number 911.552.436.02. I have a few left in 901 and 915. $10.00 plus shipping.... FYI: on my car, after I had the dash strips reupholstered, I never cut out the leather for the radio, or the plate. The sticker is attached to the leather, a cleaner look than having the plate. Consider redoing the dash strips and sticker only http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1133389427.jpg |
Jack, no my car does not have a 7300 rpm rev limit, about 1K below that. A boy can dream can't he?
Ray, I love your interior. I will take two of the stickers for a 915 if you have them. How can I pay you for theme? |

There are products that will allow for short runs printed on aluminum. Photosensitive sheets are exposed and handled like photo paper. There are also ink-jet printable sheets. I haven't tried any of them but intend to do some experimenting soon.

Edevinney,
Thanks for the links and welcome to the board. I will take a look at them and see what comes of it. If you have got a P-car I think you will be expected to post a picture soon. Thanks agian for the help, Rich |
Nice to be here! I've been a rennlister for a dogs year and a dorkiphus irregular but got the itch to build a hotrod and Pelican is the place to learn. I just sold a corner-burning Plymouth 'cuda and definitely like the building more than anything. Porsches are my first love, though - pic of my toys below.

Ray,
Do you have one for the 915 transmission? Thanks. Steve |
^^^ agreed :)
I'm all for deleting the radio, but not sure I'd want to replace it with that sticker ;) |
Noah, I think the point of the sticker is to remind drivers to use the depress the clutch fully, rather than shift w/o clutch, or 1/2 clutch (as can be common with dog boxes). Many people have the misconception that they can shift w/o the clutch effectively, but in reality it just causes accelerated wear on the transmission components.
Also, the IROC cars may not have had the shift pattern printed on the knob, the 917 cars definately didn't. If the IROC cars had a 10k rpm tach, there is also no redline indicated on those, so it may have been the only place it was listed on the car. |
Hey Rich, thanks for the plate part number. Where does one acquire a plate? Are they available new or do I have to go used? If I can find a plate, I am interested in a 901 sticker. Thanks.

Ray,
Your PM box is full. Can I get one of your 7300 rpm limit stickers for a 915 gearbox? Thanks. Casey ***whoops!!! can we say "old thread"*** Ok, so if these are still out there, I'm interested in getting one! |
sold out
Casey,
Sorry to say, no more stickers. Sold out quite sometime agao. I do know someone else was making them, do a search. tdpilot, try Pelican, they shold have the FACTORY delete plate in stock. Noah, the rumour I was told for the sticker is during the very first International Race of Champions, the Penske prepped Porsches, Nascar drivers REALLY did have trouble shifting. Some, redlined and blew some engines. The sticker was a reminder. Anyone else have a better story, or the real truth behind the sticker? |
