Throw out bearing, rings and such?

Within the next few weeks I will be replacing the clutch disc and throw out bearing...my question is what is the correct order for all the rings that come with the throw out bearing?

Thanks

Smitty I can't believe you haven't received some help on this. I have the Bentley manual at home and can get a picture for you, but it is for the Carrera, not sure if there is a difference. Anyway, maybe this bump will help. When I replaced mine, I just took a picture of the rings before removing and just reinstalled the new ones in the same order.

Which rings are you talking about - I havent seen rings on the G50 version im doing right now, maybe yours is 915?

I sometimes use this site for diagrams but couldnt see any in the clutch section:

good luck

Garage
Place the throwout on the floor on the “ears” (1)

Drop on two thin shims (2)

Put on the spring washer with the prongs toward the shim (3) (outer ring up and not in contact with TP

Put on the clutch pressure plate

Put on the retaining washer (6) with the beveled surface “up” (will have recess for retaining clip)

Sit down near the assembly and put your feet on the pressure plate, pushing down hard. This will flatten spring washer (3) enough to allow you to put on retaining clip (7)

When assembling the clutch make sure to put the snout of the clutch towards the flywheel contra regular 915/G50 clutch. Otherwise you will wish you had.

Assembly order is:

1) Flywheel

2) New ring gear (should hug pressure plate)

3) clutch disk

4) Pressure plate

5) 3 washers per bolt

6) 2nd ring gear

7) Bolts

Hope that helps!

Have you looked at the technical articles on the Pelican website. I just replaced the clutch on my 915 and it was very helpful.

Smitty...everything will be clear when you take the clutch apart. Wait! Didn't you replace a tranny and clutch before? Are you reusing your pressure plate? Removal is the reverse of assembling...and assembling is.....just be mindful of the sequence during removal...lay the parts out in order if you are not comfortable. Your clutch kit should come with the alignment tool, otherwise get one. (sheet when I was a kid, we used a broom handle to align the clutch disk!)

thank you guys...a big help for sure! Yes Souk I did a replacement of the tranny earlier this year, but all I did was pull the old tranny and bolt up the replacement (should have done more while I was in there). I did put the clutch in two years ago, but there was a mechanic on site and he had all the clutch parts (rings, throw out, etc) switched over to the new clutch very quick and I really don't recall the steps. This info you guys provided will help out. =o)
