pics from my Angeles Crest run

Can't believe it's already December. Anyways It was a beautiful day here in Southern California and they are predicting rain so my friend and I took off to the Angeles Crest for a fun run and some lunch at Newcomb's Ranch Inn.

Here are some photos. Enjoy!

The car handled great but I need to upgrade my torsion bars.. Soon.

I've always wondered... are those S2000's hard to stay with in a stock Porsche?

Interesting, from the top photo, it looks like the length & wheel base on the Porsche is shorter than the S2000. Never thought of that.

To tell you the truth they handle exceptionally well and the 8k redline isn't too bad . And on top of that my friends mod them out excessively.

My car has some perks done up by TRE so I kept pace.

I can't resist this story after seeing your pics.....

I was taking the wife out for dinner this past summer and I was at a stop light and a S2000 pulled up. The first few of the lights we were just kind of messing around. I wasn't sure if I could really take him in my stock '85 Carrera with over 200,000 miles on it. He had a carbon fiber hood and aftermarket exhaust. I don't know what other mods he had. Anyways, we got to the last light and there weren't anymore stops for a while so we hit it. All I can say is that I was disappointed in his S2000. Cause when that light turned green I was gone. bye bye...... Every shift I did he fell back more and more. I took it up to about 110, but I think at about 80mph he gave up. He turned on a street just before the next light.

I don't know what they are like corner to corner but in a straight line, Porsche all the way!!

Anyways, it looks like you guys had a blast on that drive!!

Hi Steve,

Next time, take a run up Angeles Crest to Newcombe's on Sunday mornings and dice with the sport bikes. There are literally hundreds of them, all roaring up and down, mostly on their side of the road.

I just wish Porsches had as much a "tradition" of meetings like they do.

I'll be home soon to Glendale, and will join the bikes again!!! Can't wait.

Nice pics....Love S2Ks....so what mods have your friends done?

I see a CF hood, wheels, front lip etc (essentially body mods), any engine mods to the F20?

Motion was leading a pack of us up Ortega from the lake last month in his 993 and I was right behind him in my Carrera. We came up on a S2000 and Richard started to harass the driver a bit. I figured "this ought to be fun", but it was not to be. After about two miles of Richard's 993 glued to his bumper while towing a dozen 911's with him, the driver just pulled aside and let us all through.

I'm guessing that the car has the capabilities if the engine's kept way up in the rev range but that at more normal RPM's it's kind of a dog.

They're nice cars though. If someone gave me one, I'd keep it.

I bet if you were driving it Scott, Richard probably wouldn't have put that S2000 to shame so easily.

I tend to think it has a lot more to do with the guy behind the wheel, vs. the car itself!
