its a 77 with the turbo motor in it..
at idle the car makes an interment noise out the exhaust... its hard to describe.... kind of a low "phat" noise... its every second or so but its irregular.. this doesn't happen till about 10 seconds after start-up.. when i pull a plug lead the sound is every ignition cycle for that cyl... so im guessing that the noise is a cyl not firing and the mixture igniting in the exhaust... the fuel distributor is rebuilt and the injectors were checked 3000 miles ago.. so im guessing this is an ignition issue... I pulled the plugs (bosh somethings... heat range =4's) a mechanic friend said every thing's fine... rich but OK everywhere. i had a problem with the coil wire.. it think it wasn't on all the way and it was arc'ing to the wire's but that was before this issue.. so where do i start? i cant isolate the cyl by pulling plug leads because its interment... help!

Consider checking the oil vent system. You may have a leak which does not allow the system to seal. I noticed through troubleshooting a recent and similar problem on my NA '78 3.0l that the idle was good for the first ten seconds or so and then would get rough. I really do not know the turbo configuration very well, but if possible pull the top vent hose on your oil tank (goes to CIS boot) and plug it. The idle will improve if your car has a leak in the vent system. My 02 worth

I used to own a 3L and i know what your talking about..
on the turbo cars the oil vent line vents before the sensor plate.. so you take off the oil cap and the idle wont drop or anyhting like it will on a 3L :/
