What is the red light thingy on the dash in front of the driver? Wow, how annoying would that be? Very I would say...
|
Wow - in the first video he has time to wave at the fans!
Anyone know what the big lever above the shift lever is for? Ride Height / Brake Bias?? |
handbrake extension
|
Ah - bootlegger's turn. Used to practice that in my 320iS in the rain. Thought it was the General Lee I guess.

Great videos, thanks.
If that is the shift light on the dash....and the rev limiter i am hearing...why so much driving on the edge of the engine's capabilities? |

if it's that bumpy , steering isn't that easy, and i guess he wanted both hands on the wheel besides, no point in shifting if you go that fast over those surfaces.. and a turn is coming up anyway...by the time you shift, you're ready to downshift again... haven't driven rally's myself, but i'm from Ypres , we have a big one there every year and i know those kind of roads(although not that rough, more asfalt)... used to drive them with my (expendible) company car... you just do not always have the time to shift...and sometimes you don't want to go to the faster gear because to fast... is to fast, braking on gravel isn't linear either...it's not a track where you know each corner because you've done 20 laps allready , and where you have run out areas or sandtraps... those are trees and stone walls, and ditches.... the key is to stay on the road while beeing fast ... going fast is not the only thing to consider, very little room for error |
The light on the dash is definitely suspension related, not a shift light. It flickers in unison with the bouncing of the car.
|
probably TC sensor ( not hooked up to engine itself, but to the light)
you can see it light up like mad when he brakes hard for the hairpins, and then slides through the actual hairpin .. as soon as he's out , the light goes off...it also goes mental at the gravel part... it goes off when he's off the throttle |
Suspension? Light is hard red even in the beginning on the pavement.
But I agree it isn't on all the time when you can hear him bumping the rev limiter. |
the sound alone is hair raising.......WOW. thanks for posting
