Talk me out of it!

I have the turbo system off my car and I am taking it back to stock so I can get it smogged this month.

For some reason I got this idea that I could sell the turbo system and sell the SC, and pay cash for a low mileage boxster.

I found one that is an extremely good deal, about $5000 under kelly blue book.
I probably won't do it but the voices in my head are driving me crazy! I was thinking that if I go test drive it I would change my mind, but what if I decide I really like it? AAARRRGGGHH!

I can't have both, my garage isn't big enough and I don't want to park one of the cars on the street.

Any BTDT stories?

Just go sit in one and drive it, while I enjoyed it I would never buy one. The seats and overall cabin space feels cramped compared to the 911.

Do I try to convince the wife to get one? The answer is yes!

Boxster is a better car. Will YOU enjoy it more? That is the question, and I've repeatedly found that the better car "on paper" is not the better car for me. I have a Boxster, but I'm selling it to pour more $ into my 951 race car and into the restoration of my '71T.

I don't know- wait, i do. I would not get the boxster- value depriciates like crazy! nice car? yes- kinda light in the pants though- don't like the styling either- just my opinion- (oh yeah, they are so small and look like a corporate woman's car- nothing wrong with that though- i think-

One thing I forgot to mention, I'm the type who can't deal with natural aspiration.
If I do get a boxster it will end up supercharged in no time.

I don't really care about the chick car image, that doesn't matter to me at all. I might have issues driving a miata but not a boxster.
As far as depreciation goes, the price I can buy this car is so low it can't go down much further.

The idea of the cabin being cramped is a big issue tho (pun intended), I'm 6'2" and 235 lbs-ish.
If the interior or head room is much smaller than in the SC that will be a deal killer.

Boxters have water in them........Yuck!
Seriously drive one you may find it ain't for you. Or you could buy the boxter sell the SC and donate your turbo setup to me for my SC and at least you will know it's being used. I don't have to smog

Same size minus a few pounds and it feels small. Go drive it though so you have no regrets.

Tanks guys, as usual very good advise. I will go drive one and see. I hate feeling cramped in a car, that is somethng that surprised me the first time I drove a 911. I actually fit (as long as I wasn't wearing my helmet). Of course it was Mikez's cab so I had plenty of head room

Hopefully I'll walk away thinking there is nothing that can compare to an SC, especially one that is boosted

If its a great deal, it may be very hard to pass up.

One thing I know about newer eye-candy versus 'the classics'... there will always be faster, better, newer, shinyer eye candy, but the classics are timeless and never grow old. Another thing I know is that it takes a certain maturity to come to that realization. No implications, implied. Good luck with your decision.

Just think, in what, 5 more years, your car is off the smog required list?

Leave the turbo in, rig a nice bellow system with some funky bellow system and a friggen tailpipe, and your in business.
