Adding a 2nd gas strut to the rear deck lid

The left hinge has the connection point for a gas strut, and the right side firewall has the connection for a 2nd gas strut, but the right hinge does not. Can I just get a 14" gas strut on put it in using the existing right firewall connection point and a preexisting hole in the "gooseneck" at the bottom of the right hinge. I put on a whale tail and with it and the A/C condensor one strut won't hold up the deck lid. I know I can get a double strut system for the left side, but I've been told it pushes up too much and bends the left side of the hood too much. According to PP Weltmeister no longer makes a setup for the right side. Any thoughts.

Thanks

I have both on the left side on mine, I bought some nylon spacers and longer bolts at the hardware store (I have no problems with this setup)

Don't like both on one side for the reasons given....might work well for some, however, as posted here.

You can get a right side hinge from a recycler that was used on a factory turbo...or you can mimic a small piece of steel and bolt it in place on the right hinge..

A support on each side is a more elegant solution.... you might even consider a prop rod ( or two....choose using either the left or the right one installed, depending upon maintenance access needs). RoyB on this board made one from a carbon-fiber hunting arrow...and some people here offer this for commercial sale ( "Sherwood"?)
