The car also had a VIN plate on the driver side a post, does that mean it was an import?

Duke, this S 66 is the German aproval number for the heating system.
It has nothing to do with colour. The number and name of the colour is on the drivers side a-post ("Kunstharzlack" and number) The two plates are on every Porsche of these years, as far as I know, at least on my two US-Reimports. Sebastian

I was just researching some of the sites around and found that H was 1975, the vin number itself also has a 5 in the fourth spot. So I take it I have a 1975 not 76, was this true in all cases? the vin also has a 1 in the fifth spot so does it mean it is a German version or what?

This VIN is from an 'H' series 911 which is a '75 model year. The blocked out VIN should read 9115XXXXXX and engine serial # should be 6X5XXXX. This plate with the VIN stamped on it and mounted on the driver's side 'A' pillar would mean it was US (maybe Canada) import.

Yes a 5 in the forth spot is for a car made from August '74 to July '75. The 1 in the sixth spot is for a Targa. If it was a 0 then that would indicate a coupe. A 1 in the fifth spot is for a ROW 911.

Thanx Brian, I was hoping you would chime in. I guess I've been mis-representing my car. (maybe I shoulda checked before hand) Doesn't really matter but does clear up some brake and suspension issues. Have a great holiday.
