Those still using heat with no footwell blowers...

I have an 84 Carrera that I removed the footwell blowers from (for sale btw) and wonder what people do with the kick panel covers that cover the blowers? I have removed all of my trunk ventialation in addition so no need to route the heat up through there any longer.

So basically, there is just the output pipe sticking out of the door sill area. Do people cover these up or just let the heat blow dorectly out of those? I was thinking of replacing the panels (they are really light without the insulation behind them) and cutting holes in them and then apply a black mesh screen from behind - same mesh or screen you would find on the front bumper/grill area.

Any pics of what others have done, thoughts or ideas appreciated.

Jeff

I have a similar set up, removed all the hvac stuff. But I did keep the blowers and use the small vent on the blower to heat the footwell area and connected hose straight from the blower up and directly to the defrost vents on the window. Plenty of heat, and defrost too. In your case you could run hose from the rocker area outlet right up to the defrost vents or bend the hose up over the top edge of the cover panels and have it vent into the footwell area.

Cheers

Thanks - I think we have similiar setups

I didn't want to run any more hoses - I took more hose out of this beast than hang out in downtown DC. The HVAC would be simpler in this car if they modeled it after the space shuttle.

Good to know that you get plenty of heat, even in BC.

I am going to backdate the controller and go with manual levers for simplicity and ditched the auto heat.
