actually, a new "client" (have not decided if he qualifies yet) is claiming this poor 911sc targa "only needs a minor tune to awaken her from her 2 year slumber in the back yard"
What was that seinfeld episode ? "SERENITY NOW!!!"

Yeah, man, all it needs is air in the tires.

Tell your client to dig to the next level in his archaeolgical endeavors, exposing the layer wherein 356s roamed the earth.

2 years or 2 decades did that? That's a bad testimony for our air out here (I know, it's already the worst in the nation) if it's 2 years.

Our resident botanist has ascertained that the pine needles adorning 99% of the car have to be at least 5 years old (and the majority blew off on the high speed (we insisted) flatbed ride over to the shop

Oooh, pines needles bad stuff. You ever notice no grass grows under the pine? Ask mr resident botanist if the neddles are acidic (I think that's the case). No bueno.

I suppose the front valance got all bent out by pulling it out of the yard on its nose, otherwise that is a testament to the condition of the car in general.

All this for an SC similar to the mid year you just bought for under 500? (OK, no motor/trans, let's be fair ) Can you say "parts car?" Better, can the customer say it?

We made an initial estimate of $3500-4500 to get it driveable inc brakes, fluids, service, vacuuming out all the spiders, rats' nests, and the like w/o a guarantee of it actually being able to drive off- Who knows if the fuel distributor is frozen, injectors, etc etc? with the back end of the car looking like a 3 month's old diapers drooping after a rather FULL day, i estimated value at around $1300-1500 as it sits so client can save extending his misery thru trying to resurrect it. We'll make the offer and see what happens.

perhaps Zeke's suggestion of using the ditch in the background for a "TRE time capsule" might make sense

Hmmm...dead Porsche, filthy, incongruencies as to how it ended up in this state. I envision a new series...CSI: North Hollywood.

I once bought a snowmobile that had a lot of pine needles under the engine. Little did I know it had a stuck float and they were fuel-soaked pine needles when I tried to initally start it......It started after a loud backfire.......Then I saw the flames.....Damm near burnt down the whole development where my cabin is located at: LAKE CLE ELUM!!!!!!

I don't see the problem...it looks better than mine...and I drive it every day....well almost...it's been cold here for a week and I don't have heat hooked up yet.
I don't mind scraping the outside of a windshield, but I draw the line at doing the inside...as I'm driving.
Check the oil, top it up, pull the dead gophers out of the aircleaner, and give her a push to get her going!
Bob
