alternator replacement

I tore apart my fan and alternator sunday as prep for the rebuild
its a 1973.5 (11-blade) fan, with a marchal alternator

after pulling it apart, I found the alternator housing to be cracked
it looks like someone had overtightened a mounting bolt at some point

the fan and fan housing are fine
I guess I could look for a used marchal

I see that our host shows them and the bosche unit as no longer available.

what are my options
is the bosche interchangeable
is the bosche easier to find or better

its a race car so more output (Drag) is not something I'm looking for

thanks for advice in my new learning exercise
brant

Just replaced my alternator, i picked up a rebuilt one at advanced auto parts for $230. This is a lot cheaper than anything i have found online plus it has a warranty. Not too sure about the drag

thats an option I hadn't thought of
good to know, thanks for the tip

and by drag, I just don't need a high output one.

anybody know if the marchal can interchange with a bosche, or what the superceded style is?

wire the blue exciter wire to a toggle switch if you want to eliminate any drag, though there ain't much. keep the switch off when you start the car. switching it off after the engine starts won't do anything.
