MSD Wiring....
See if this will help. This is how I wired the MSD unit on my SC. Looking at the master plug from the top with the beveled edges
to the front the wires are: Bosch CDI Plug = MSD Wires Front row left to right 1) System Ground = Black coil wire 2) Tachometer Signal = Black wire from left end of MSD unit 3) Signal Ground (green wire shield) = Purple wire Back row left to right 4 Coil Hot +12 volts = Orange coil wire 5) Switched +12 volts = small Red wire 6) Signal Pos. (green wire center conductor) = Green wire Heavy red wire is +12 volts from the starter terminal Heavy black wire is ground Good Luck! |
i won!
got the MSD back from the factory. they charged me $25 = $6 for shipping. the car started right up. apparently the note said, i shorted a diode, and fried some capacitor. thanks guys. |

so the welding much earlier may have weakened your box? Do you have a rough idea on how many miles the welding was before the msd failure? I've heard to disconnect both positive and negatives from sensitive elect's. Don't remember the source but I took it seriously? Also I would think a diode would be sensitive to a surge? thx for info. http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif |
i dont think any miles. the car died at the bodyshop. i cant prove anything. i wish i knew more.
thanks guys. |
Cliff,
Great news ... at least you didn't get the 'we can't fix it' routine, and it was only $31! |
