Got one, thanks for the help everybody!

Its been seven months since I started seriously looking, but I finally found what I wanted; a 3.2 Carrera sunroof delete. These are some of the details:
-1985 US model
-looks great; a few paint chips on the front bumper and slight dent/chip further back on the front hood, but otherwise it looks perfect inside and out
-only drove it about 4 miles from the drop off to my home spot (Intercity could not get a permit to go on the roads all the way to my house). It felt and sounded great.
-one owner with just under 30k miles
-original paint
-stock except for new stereo and speakers

I'm sure I'll find problems that the PPI mechanic didn't. But overall I am VERY happy! Now I just have to be content with looking at it in my garage for the next eight months until the snow and salt are gone.

Thanks to everyone who helped me evaluate cars and selling prices. The information that you gave me was helpful and gave me piece of mind on price negotiations.

Congratulations - No need to wait for spring though. A 911 in the snow can be almost more fun than on a dry road. Some narrow winter tires and you can challenge every snow plow.

IMO There is nothing that looks better than a black 911 when it is clean.
Unfortunately my black 911 will only stay clean for about 4 minutes

When you find yourself looking in your garage a 2 in the morning just to check..... rest assured, that is completely normal..just sitting in it, running your hands over stuff,looking at the motor, is no cause for alarm....years later..I still do it.

congrats!.....what a beautiful thing the 911 coupe is, especially in black....and yes, I have litterly never been able to park/lock my car and not check it out while walking away....I always watch other pcar owners and they all do the same thing....my gf loves it!
