Question about the Tbitz EFI install
I started the Tbitz conversion today. It became increasingly clear during the CIS removal that I would need to cut the airbox. I believe that this will be the easiest way to put everything back into place.
Here is the question, with the EFI trimmed airbox option, what lines and electrical connections must I maintain, which can I plug or not reconnect? If any one has good images of the Tbitz install with the minimalist airbox, it would be appreciated before I start turning wrenches tomorrow AM. I tried a forum search but the info was not complete or concise. BTW it is a 1980 SC. Thanks, Jim S. |
I ended up fabricating my own air box so that I would be able to keep my old CIS. It did make the job harder, but I am happy the way it turned out.

Jim,
The installation guide is fairly detailed, but does focus on keeping the "CIS look". Like you, it seems most people go for the minimalist look. I'm working on an appendix for the installtion guide to address this. For now shoot me emails for any questions. Lot's of pics in the gallery as reference. Here are some pics of the cut up airbox. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1134263591.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1134263604.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1134263619.jpg |

I'm also in the middle of installing the kit and have some questions. (Don't mean to hijack) I have cut the box and plan on keeping the AAV and deceleration valve, does anybody have pictures of the front side of that area? My "Y" hose that connects the DV and AAV is cracked so I'm have one done in aluminum.
TBitz, I can't wait for you to finish the update to the install guide. |
Thanks Tony, I'm sure I'll be in touch.
Ben, I just sent a PM. Jim S. |
Gonna make it a priority to update the installation guide. Just need to find the time, not much of it these days.
I have found time to read about Einstein General and Special Theory of Relativity though. I figure if I can make the 911 go fast enough, I can make time "slow down", as Einstein predicts, and then be able to get more things done in a day. Now how much horsepower do I need to approach the speed of light... |
keep in mind my pictures represent the first iteration and this is what I ended up with. the first one did not allow enough air in this one works very well and allows the use of the stock air filter. If more then one are interested in one I could make a few and it would be cheaper for everyone anyhow here the final product is. Its a little dirty right now I have been doing work in the garage and sourcing spark plug wires etc so now Its kind of torn aparthttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1134307237.jpg
