Thank you from the Uk

Hi back in the summer my 3.2 Carrera seized this site and all you guys were really helpful and supportive. I had only had the car 2 weeks! iI turned out the scavenge pipe had been repaired and the bore had been reduced. Northway who rebuilt it reckon that at a long period of high revving it would have suffered oil starvation (the dials read as they should when it happend). The result was damage to con rods, crank, valve guides etc. The cost was roughly £4500. Thanks again Ian.

Man, that sounds like a bummer! So is it all fixed and driving now? I know it must have been a major pain in the bum when it happened, but at least you must have a very nice and sorted engine after spending the 4.5K on it. It should last many years to come before it needs further expense.

Northway is my local p-mechanic too!

I was down there on Thusday getting some help from Ray on hooking up the vaccume hoses on my 3.6 conversion.

£4500 doesnt sound too bad if it included a crank & other case work - they were quoting me £3K+(along with other companys I called) to do a top-end rebuild on my 3.2. In the end I managed to find a reasonable priced low miles 993 engine & decided to go for the 3.6 swap rather than the rebuild.

Now that I am almost done I'm looking back at that £3k quote and wishing I had accepted it!

Northway gave a good service the £4500 was the total cost not the bill from Northway as I sourced the parts. Main headache was getting a serviceable crank, mine was cracked and so were 2 others I bought from various places and sent back, got one from Bob Watson enginnering and think he has others if anyone needs one?
