Hood Shock R & R Question

I got through the R & R part of hood shock replacement but I noticed two things when I refered to my PET cd for installation info. First, the p.o. or tech installed them upside down. No big deal but I also noticed there is supposed to be a spacer on the top, where the pin goes through the hood and shock. I can't really tell from the PET cd where it goes or what it looks like. I plan on ordering the spacers but can someone tell me where the spacer goes? Next to the shock and if so, does it make a difference which side of the shock? This is on an '88 911 Turbo. Thanks.

I just did this on both my P-cars. The spacer goes on the outside of the strut on the hood side. The spacer looks like a thick black plastic washer. If you have them fine but if you don't I wouldn't worry about it. My '85 didn't have them and it worked like that for years with no problems. I didn't even know that spacers belonged there until I did my '87 930. It had them when I removed the old struts so I put them back cause I had them.

Good Luck!
