How well does the Seine shifter work?

Any feed back on the Seine shifter. My shifter needs to be rebuilt and I want to up grade, but I need to watch where the money goes, cause the list is long. Thanks

I've been using one for the last three years and I like it. It doesn't improve the feel of the shift, but then it doesn't make it any worse either and it has certainly done what it's designed for - stopping you from downshifting to the wrong gear and wrecking your engine. The only downside I can think of is that the rubber shift gater needs a little cut on one side to allow the adjustment spring through, but if you have a leather cover that won't affect you.

I did a complete shifter rebuild about 2 years ago and included the Siene System Shift gate. I like it very much. I also did a Stomski Racing shift coupler and new Weltmiester shift bushings and ball cup. All these things together made a HUGE difference from the old tired stock stuff.

I like it too. For me it improved the feel of the gear change and greatly enhances my enjoyment of driving the car since I'm not panicking about whether I've got the right gear all the time - it takes all the worry out of shifting from 5th to 4th etc. I don't think I'd have a 915 without one now. Its pretty easy to fit too.

True, search is first...hey that rhymes!

Andrew
But seriously, the Seine is a great value for the cost. I have one on my '85 and love it. Yes, it provides protection from downshifting into the wrong gear, but the shifter defaults to the 3rd/4th plane thereby you know where you are just by dropping into Nuetral.

I'm getting another for the SC.

Cheers

I have a new Siene shifter kit. I bought a year or so ago but never installed it. I decided to go with the Wevo shifter, coupler and engine mounts. Let me know if you are interested. Make me an offer. In bag with instructions. Paul

It is not designed to act like the WEVO, but for what it does, and what it prevents, it gets my endorsement.

Tight buget, you say ....

You can always "upgrade" your shifter later. If you just focus your efforts on getting it up to standard condition, you will likely find the "upgrade" isn't needed.

Personally, I wish I'd spent the extra few hundred and bougth the Wevo. Not really too happy with the Seine. Too many times I've gone from 2 to 1, and it aint pretty. One of these days - bam!! and it's rebuild time.

Saving my pennies for a wevo now.

?

A wevo doesn't stop you from going from 2nd to 1st.

In fact, w/ wevo the planes are closer together.

....Seine's are gated, and spaced farther apart.

Do you track your 911?

Imho...
If you track your 911 the extra spring will provide more positive feedback than the factory single spring. During a track event it is a mod you will be thankful for lap after lap.
Or on a freeway on ramp holding a Big Gulp Soda and talking on the cell phone the positive feel of the second spring would be helpful too.
It makes the simple act of shifting simpler leaving you more awareness for other priorities.

I installed one about a year ago with new bushings, huge difference. Most from the bushings but a very nice precise feel. I also installed a leather boot over the rubber boot to hide the cut in the boot that the seine installation required. Nice look. Good addition.
