brake options for 912

I was wondering what options there are for brake options on a 69 912. I'm sure my calipers are frozen and i'm gonna need to run new lines, so i was wondering what i shloud consider when replacing stuff. Thanks!

Rebuild your stock calipers. Calipers from a 911 with the 3" bolt spacing will bolt right on up front and allow you to put vented rotors up front. We race a 69 912 with solid stock rotors and they work fine.

I put BMW calipers from a 77 E30 on my '69 they are made by ATE and have roughly the same size pads as the aluminum S calipers. They also allow the vented rotor and have the 3" ear spacing. I'm really happy with the upgrade.

sirius, classic and speed parts has full kit out for 912s and early 911s. remanufactured stock calipers (professionally stripped and rebuilt with new parts to be brand new, coating and all), drilled or slotted rotors -everything you need. the kit is a direct bolt on, so no jerry rigging or modifications needed.

the website only has the set for 69 912 listed, but i know for a fact he also has the kit for a 65-68 912 too. you can call will up at 626.445.0108 to order if you need the 65-68 kit (and tell him Harry sent ya too! will is a great guy).

csp also has steel braded lines, dual master conversion set up (if yours is pre 68) and anything else you might need -new master or master rebuild kits, pads, lines, etc...) seriously, call will up and discuss the options with him. he is not some parts pusher, he is a really knowledgeable car guy, and as honest and as nice as they come. give him a call, he will set you up with anything you need.

edit: just saw you had a 69.. so you dont need the dual master conversion cause you already have it..

Go with the BMW calipers.

The only jerry riggin I had to do was bend a new hard line for each side. The new lines took about 5 mins a side with a standard tubing bender.

I got the calipers for $100.00 from a local wrecker. This is a realy good upgrade that doesn't cost a lot. If you want to stick with Porsche stuff just get some 911 M calipers that fit vented rotors. You should be able to find a used set on the calssifieds board.

Probably a bit out of your budget, but I converted my '69 912 to '87 Carrera brakes and suspension. I believe that I still have all my orginal 912 brakes front and rear...they were working when removed about 2 years ago.
