New shift knob and parking brake handle in 993, is this DIY?

I have a buddy with a really nice 993. He wants to change the color of his shifter from blue to black as well as the hand brake. Is this an easy task or is it something best left up to the pros?

I put the factory wood versions of these on my '96 and it was pretty easy, but the e-brake took some console disassembly.

I did it on my 964. I believe that http://p-car.com/ has a DIY article on it you could follow. I'm not very mechanically inclined but managed just fine.
