NJ Car Hand Car Wash
No Affiliation with this place, I just wanted to share the info in case anyone around the norther NJ area is having a hard time cleaning their car, in this weather.
I was searching for a hand car wash in NJ, and have never come across a better one than my old time favorite. It's called the Sussex King and is located in Newark NJ, but don't let the area scare you off, it's very professional. I needed a car wash for these sub zero days when its just too cold outside to wash the salt and grime off the 911. I was looking for two features: No wheel guide. My car is too low. No machines, I can just imagine them ripping up the targa top. Here are a few key features of the Sussex King Hand Car Wash... 1 - Had Washed by two guys with mitts. No mechanical anything. You drive in, get hand washed then drive over the undercarriage sprayer, then by the rinser, and finaly by a blower fan. 2 - You don't get out of the car. No wheel guide. Just drive it! 3 - 1.5" undercarriage spray obstacle, so it's not high enough to ram into most cars. 4 - They Power-wash the wheels and wheel wells. 5 - Two guys dry the car and use compressed air to blow out water from any seams. 6 - Two guys clean the inside. They where careful. 7 - The whole place is heated, so there is no chance of the water freezing. Nice. If anyone is driving their car in the winter and is looking for such a Porsche wintertime cleaning oasis here is a link to google maps... http://maps.google.com/maps?q=70+SUSSEX+AVE,+NEWARK,+NJ&ll=40.745436,-74.178540&spn=0.003699,0.010243&t=h&hl=en

You are a good, good man. Thank you.
I was debating trying to get a hot water tap by my garage in long island the other day. This will make things much easier.

I just used one of those 'do it your self' car wash on rt 18 in New Brunswick. You get there, put your quarters in and wash as long as you want, pretty cool. Dunno if I want to bring the RSR to Newark

There is a great hand wash called Beverly Hills Carwash in Mahwah, NJ on Franklin Tpke. However, it seems that the PH level of their water still manages to cloud up the fuchs. I have not been there once since I got them done by Al Reed, but miss the service.
Same deal, just drive into a garage and they wash away. Be careful with the PH levels, as it's so easy to cloud up the anodized fuchs. Best,

I live in Mahwah and Beverly Hills does a good job, just tell them not to use the "wheel cleaner spray". That's the problem not so much the water. The pH of the water is neutral but it's "hard" water so if it's not dry it will leave white spots if it's not dried. $18.00 or something like that!

In case anyone has the same problem in the NYC area, there is an excellent hand car wash in Astoria, NY. It's fully enclosed, the guys are very professional and it's relatively cheap. I can't remember the name of the place but if you want to know where it is PM me and I'll get you the address. I think it's where 31st St ends at a Con Edison station.

I use to live in Westwood New Jersey and there was a pretty good guy called Donovans. Nice work but kind of pricing.
I found a pretty good shop in Union City ( On Kennedy Blvd, just south of the 495 route that goes into the Lincoln Tunnel). There are two pretty close, but the good one is the second one you see on the left that is across from a Dollar store. Good price ~$6 Full hand job that you drive through, Interior done while paying. And then you are back on the 495 into Manhattan!
