Stripping begins on the 66 rat

I started the paint removal of my 66 rat today it had layers of paint on it starting with the original [i believe polo red] then someone wanted green so theres a few layers of that, then they decided they wanted red again I removed the paint on the front fenders and filled a 5 gal bucket. The rear quarters held quite a few surprises along with the door. Bondo everywhere. I think this car went thru a demolition derby at one point of its life. Here are some pics of the carnage

My '69 was originally yellow. When they stripped it, it had 6 layers of paint to my surprise. About 3 yellow, a couple of white and 1 of black. I couldn't imagine, that's a paint job about every 7 years.

Think of all the weight your taking off the car also. When I stripped my 69 there was evidence of 4 resprays. All the paint, sealer, primer and filler weighs quite a bit. I venture you have like 20# of paint striped at least

What are you using to strip the car? I've got 2 gallons of aircraft stripper waiting to be applied. It is just supposed to be applied a temps greater than 65 degrees.

Paul can ask one other question. Are you going to be priming the car immediately after getting it stripped? I am worried about the lag time between stripping and the application of primer to prevent rusting. I live in a very low humidity region, at least better than northern jersey, but I don't want rust.

If its inside you shouldnt have a problem, if for any reason there is, it would most like be surface rust which would sand right off. then before you prime sand it quickly wipe it down with prep sol and prime it.
