targa factory chassis stiffening
Hello enthusiats,
I have read everywhere that targa's do indeed have chassis stiffening and, the reasons are of course obvious but, despite my sincerest efforst I have been unable to find out exactly where this extra stiffening takes place. Can anyone shed some light on where this extra 45lbs of chassis stiffening is placed? thanks in advance, John FYI- I weighed my '86 targa with a 1/2 tank of gas on a truck scale and it came in at 2784lbs.

Some say the floorboard area is heavier or doubled-up with sheetmetal...as evidenced by less footroom or floor mats for "coupes" not fitting...

That makes sense. So Porsche did not just take a coupe and turn it into a Targa. It is a Targa from the get go. I forgot about the footpedal area differences.

I believe along the rocker near the door frame there is also extra stiffening.
