beware ebay scammer cOoljOhn

Beware this ebay scammer cOoljOhn he used to be Used911parts also know as Frank Desmarias aka speedracer911 on this board before he was banned.

He has now changed his name on ebay, last e-mail address I had was used911parts@aol.com and FnVlcty@aol.com

I know some of you lucky guys got money back from him but he still owes me nearly USD $500 and despite promises and bull**** I have yet to be paid.

Beware "Frank the thief"

Ironically, he also chimed in on the Parts Werks threads, in DEFENSE of Parts Werks. Birds of a feather...

it's not only the oarts, I got ripped off for a deposit on ebay motors. Ebay said the listing(auction) did not come from their site but that is where I found it. The best way to deal with ebay is to use paypal.

The best way to deal with EBAY is to use PAYPAL with a CREDIT CARD. PAYPAL is, in my opinion, next to worthless at resolving complaints with a direct bank transfer. A credit card chargeback is very effective.

Thanks for comments.

I used paypal on ebay with a credit card but when they went to refund me he had already spent about USD $500 so i was shortpaid and told " sorry he does not have enough funds in his account to repay you"

What is the point, surely they should not allow people to withdraw funds during the 30 day dispute period??????

Ebay is getting more greedy every day. Kind of off topic but still.
Paypal is an Ebay company, like we all know. They seem to develop a pattern to protect not the customers but only themselves. Paypal makes you waive all consumer rights a cc grants you.
Lat year I bought a Targa fiber top from sundialent, http://sparetop.com and the product was garbage. I shipped back and lost $120,- on the deal. Experienced same thing like you with paypal (no sufficient sellers funds). I lost big on bank fees and paypal fees. Took me months to recover at least some $$$ from seller.

When you use a credit card linked to paypal, you don't have to deal with paypal AT ALL. You call the credit card company (number on your card) and tell them you have a dispute with the transaction. They will send you some (easy) papers to fill out in which you state your case. There is no 30 day time limit, at least with the cards I've used (even though paypal wants you to believe there is). The more info you can give them the better- ie copies of the ebay add, emails, pictures of the disputed item, etc. The credit card company does all the work, they notify papal of the chargeback.

I use this only as a last resort, but I have used it 3-4 times over the past 10 years or so, usually in association with ebay. The credit card company truelly works in you behalf, whereas paypal, in my opinion, works against you. I've always prevailed in these cases.

Sorry about continuing the OT but that is why I have not gotten Verifide and given a bank account number to paypal. I can always dispute a charge but when they have access to your bank account I think that is a little rougher to recover money.

Am I wrong in feeling this way?

There is a time limit on disputing a credit card charge - it should be printed on your stmt, and is set by federal law.

Still OT I guess but...
The main reason to have the PayPal account tied to your bank is to receive funds from buyers. Unless you are a business that takes CC's, it is a good way to collect your money.
FWIW, I had a smallish dispute ($130) which PayPal investigated and then credited my account. All of which is to say, I've had pretty good luck with Ebay and PayPal. (Admittedly, I haven't had THAT much exposure.)

Johnny B, thanks for the "heads up" regarding that seller.

If you have both a bank account and a credit card linked to paypal, they always try to use the bank account first. You have to click "select other payment options" and then choose your credit card. paypal then asks you if you're sure you want to use the credit card rather than the bank account- Blah, Blah, Blah- select yes; then the transaction is strictly a credit card transaction, I don't think they can do anything with your bank account. Then any disputes that arise are dealt with through the credit card company, not paypal.

Did PP retaliate in any way after you got your $ back? Did they lock your account or anything like that?

Paypal has locked the account of the offender in this case used911parts but this has not helped to return the balance of funds due to me.

I pay only with credit card on paypal, like the others have said they are useless when it comes to pay through your bank, at least with a credit card you have some sort recourse....Amex has been the best CC, they seem to always try to help you out , all other CC's are useless
