Wheel choices for 1985 Carrera?
I'm looking for 17's and was wondering if there are other choices besides Mille Miglia and BBS. Can't seem to find any other brand. Any suggestions or pics of other brands preferably in 17's as I'm not too sure on what size spacers I need to run 18's. Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance. |

IMO, nothing looks finer than a set of ruf speedline's on our cars. They come in 17 x 8 and 9. (gratuitous pics attached).

Cup 2's don't look too bad either in a 17" if you like the wheel centre on the outside rather than a dish shape.

what are your driving plans ? street only or DE and track for light weight or street strength. Here in Orlando we have really great roads. How are the roads in your area ?
I'm partial to these turbo twists. sizes 255/45 17 Rear and 215/45 17 front. I'm set at Euro ride hight with no rubbing issues. I used black and silver high temp wheel paint for the stock carrera calipers and hubs so no rust shows. Caliper stickers that say Porsche came from Ebay.

Call me old fashioned but I think a classic 80s Carrera looks the best with the original 16" fuchs alloys.

I prefer the Fikse FM10's
The silver one has BBS's and the white are Fikse's

They have got to be a PITA to clean
Rg5 ps please can anyone tell me what PITA stands for, I have seen it used a lot on this list and have deduced it is an euphamism for "extremely difficult". |

I have the Fikse FM10s and the classic Ruf 5 spokes on my 930. Both are gorgeous but the Rufs are SOOOO much heavier than the Fikses. Consequently I use them for foul weather driving.
I have actually grown VERY fond of the Custom 17" Fuchs that Lindsey has been producing to the point that I may try and dump the Rufs at some point and go that route.

The 911 I am getting currently has 17' chrome AZEV type A. I will be selling the wheels in mid Feb. DO a search on my user name to see a pic.

these are 17" turbo twist looks- reps from wheelenhancement in la--- lowerd car, no rubbing- running 255's at the rear and 225's up front- they are fun to look at but kinda heavy- **i often swap in 7 and 8 Fuchs -- it depends what you want in a wheel- look cool or feel good or both- course, also depends on $ you have! good luck!

I vote for Fikse FM-5's. 5 spoke design like Ruf's, but lighter and much easier to clean thean FM-10's.

Thanks for all the replies and pics guys. Man...talk about $$$ and bling.
The P is mainly street driven/weekend car. I'm just looking for some new wheels since the previous owner got some road rash on the fuchs that are on the car now. Thanks again guys....excellent board and members!!
