Pre Muff vs. gutted cat
Hi all, Is there a big difference from a performance point of view? I have an extra gutted cat and did not want to spend the extra for a pre muff unless there was a substantial gain in power, Thanks

No substantial gains to be had by using a pre-muff instead of a gutted cat. Stick w/ the gutted cat and put your money elsewhere.

klauke, do you have any proof to back this up? I asked this question a couple of months ago and was told the opposite (premuff was better) but I haven't bought one yet and still have a gutted cat lying around...

a gutted cat will be significantly better than a half melted cat. Easy to gut. slight chance for some minor exhuast turbulence but, if anyone says it make a difference I would like to see dyno proof. premuff is nothing special. get a test pipe for $100 new or gut the cat.

I believe this question has been asked and answered many times over. I think it is best to do a search and see what others have said. I believe there is a different answer for an SC vs. a Carrera, so you may also want to list what model you have.
