Central locking question
Hi folks,
I've noticed a weirdness about my central locking. If the car is unlocked and I put the key in the door and turn it CW, the locks will click and the locking knobs will retract, but not all the way. The doors will not be locked. If I then turn the lock once more CW, the knobs will retract further and the doors will be locked. The Bentley and owner's manual don't describe anything like this. Is this the way it's supposed to work? Why two turns with the key necessary? Thanks, ianc |
Sounds like you have an issue. They should just lock when you turn the key. Not sure if it would indicate a grounding issue or something else, but should probably be looked into.

Hmmm.... OK. I just wondered if it was really supposed to take two turns with the key to activate the locking.
My guess would be maladjusted linkage rods in the door. If they're a little loose, they might not lock all the way the first time and need that second one to nudge them all the way locked. Just what I wanted! Because you know, taking doors apart is my favorite thing! ianc |
