My Review -Ebay Porsche SE may need some work
Hi Pelicans,
Just sharing some observations of an Ebay 89 Carrera that I checked out for a friend in Long Beach, CA. Fellow was nice but this is my observations. I only listed this because the car was listed as "mint." 1. Car was nice at 20 feet, poor up close. 2. Heavy rust bubbling under winshield at the drivers corner. 3. Leather was totally gone. Needs full leather work. 4. Radio pops out but does not fit well. A lot of wires hanging out. 5. Dash light dimmer knob did not work. 6. Steering wheel in terrible shape. 7. Although advertised as original, it had obvious signs of numerous spot paints throughout the body and door wells. Maybe not in an accident but...... 8. Transmission was difficult and looks like synchros might need attention. 9. Smell of burning oil. May have been caused by recent wash. 10. Tons of scratches and chips throughout. 11. No records at all. Said he owned a shop and had work done as needed. He owned it for 15 out of the last 16 years but no records. 12. Center console missed a knob of some type. 13. Dash had numerous big cracks.

maybe he meant that the auction winner would get a box of mints with the car?
Pessimism is a must with ALL ebay auctions.

My buddy thought he was referring to some Girl Scout Mint cookies, but I could not find them anywhere in the car....

An 89 in THAT bad of shape...wow thats no good at all. For an 89 to get all the rust spots and touch ups it sounds like the freaking thing was rolled*. Luis, what was the selling price? Does it reflect a "mint Oreo" 911 or a $MINT$ 911.
*warning this statement has no basis whatsoever, nor do any of the opinions expressed by this user or really anyone he knows. Oreo is a licensed product name and this user is in no way connected or affiliated with the aforementioned product regardless of how good they taste.

Matthew,
You might be right. Strange places for spot paints including door mounting hinges. Price was on ebay and is up to $17K and had not reached its reserve. Will probably go higher but this car would never make it into my garage (or any other Pelican for that matter). Pictures can be so misleading!! Hope the link works, if not use the item number. 1989 Porsche : 911 Item number: 4600343161

The use of the word " Mint " in the ad tells me more about the cars owner than the car..... Next

I was surprised at the number of scratches on the speedo glass.
