3.2 Voltage

89 Carrera - I've owned the car for 1.5 years. Headlights always seemed dim and sort of pulse a hair at idle. Just got a GTechPro and tried it out... Doesn't work (tach, etc) in the 911. I checked the voltage at the battery with the car on... 13.8 at idle and then increasing throttle LOWERS the voltage (down to 13.2 at 3000 RPM). Can anyone explain why this would/could happen? Car always starts easily; battery is clean.

If your battery voltage with the ignition off is 12v, then it seems your charging circuit is working, but maybe not very well. I would have a mechanic do an electrical system check. You may have a partially bad regulator circuit, or you could have grounding problems.
