pedal cluster / MC removal

im at a convenient stopping point in my removal....so i need to ask can the MC be removed without jacking the car?

i read the tech article on this last night and i must have been half asleep.....i attempted this without a jack or set of ramps to get at the MC

ill stop for lunch and try to crawl in there after i eat. if someone can say for sure it can or cant be accomplished ill continue or re-assemble and let mechanic do it.

Yes,
The master cylinder can be removed without jacking up the car. The studs for the pedal cluster protude through firewall and must be accessed from under the car.

cars with the M cyl mounted in the trunk do not require any under car access, other than brake bleeding when your done. remove the 17mm wrench sized bolt on the side of the aluminum housing, remove the clip and pin on the top of the pedal push rod, and remove the bolt securing the end of the M cyl to the cowl, just above your knee. the rest is obvious, out in the front trunk. the air flap cable that passes over the M cyl is left alone.
if the pedals are coming out too, then remove the suspension guard plate and remove the two nuts on the studs that protrude through the sheetmetal from the cluster.

john,

i just looked at the car and i do not think i can gain access to the two remaining bolts holding my pedal cluster in place.

from my searches and the pelican tech article the pedal cluster is held in place by 4 bolts. two at the base of the pedal easily accessible by removing carpet and wooden floorboard, and the two remaining are accessed by removing the skid plate on the bottom of the car. it seems that with my limited room and limited tool supply this job is one best suited for a lift, a jack and jack stands or a set of ramps.

i will re assemble and make an appointment and arrange for my mechanic to do/assist.

sucks when a 10 minute job turns into a half day affair because of lack of tools/materials.
