993 P&C with 964 Block & Heads

I think I already know the answer to this, but would appreciate some confirmation. The use of 993 Pistons and Cylinders with a 964 Block, Crank, Rods and Heads would require new rods (at minimum) since the rod is smaller (thinner) on the 993.

Do I have this right?

Chris

The pistons and rods need to match the crank

i.e. 964crank, 964 rods, 964 pistons or 993crank, 993 rods, 993 pistons

Unless I care to make custom rods for the 964 crank and the 993 pistons, eh? :)

Interesting..

So is the only difference between 964 and 993 pistons the width of the wrist pin bush space/

Ie 964 rods just need narrowing some to use the 993 P+B?

Thanks
David

I believe so, but never heard of anyone doing it that way.

I should add that the 993 crank is considerably more robust than a 964 crank and the the 993 rods are lighter but at least as stron as the 993 versions.

I would want a 993 lower end in my cars.
