How Do You Decide...?
Maybe this is a subject better suited for the OT Board, but I'll ask it here anyway...
Several of you guys (and gals) own more than one 911. Some of you, quite a few. On a day to day basis, how do you go about making the decision of which one you're going to drive on any particular day? I mean, if you have 2, a Cab with a leaking roof, and a Coupe, and it's raining outside, the choice would seem obvious. But on the other days...is it a preference over one that handles better, or one that feels quicker, or something else,, like...I LOVE my RED one more than the white, green, black, or blue ones... For me, I have 3 vehicles...check my signature, below. For me, I just prefer driving the 86, even more than the Vette. The Vette is much faster, and the power of the V8 is exhillerating, when I give it a go, but it always comes down to the 86 is just more fun. The Durango is great for trips to Home Depot, or Sam's or when there is more than just my wife and I going somewhere. Let's hear the reasons, how do you decide between your 911's? Randy

On the weekdays, I drive my company car - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. On track days and autox, I drive the SC. If I want to look GQ or just give my SC a rest, I drive the Carrera. Normally, my wife trades off driving the Carrera, 2005 MINI Cooper and the 2005 Xterra for work and school on the weekdays.

Work days (or days when everything else is out of gas) my wife drives the work van. Her sunday drives are in the 76. I take the 76 out when I just want to cruise. I take the 87 when I want the raw race car feel (it is stripped, or getting there) and on track days. I take the BMW when I have the kids but still want a little handling. The truck (01 Z71 Silverado) is used for fishing trips/ trips to the mountain where off roading might come into play, Home Depot, and it makes a great "Sag Wagon" for track days. It also doubles as a "Fort" for my kids.

It is amazing how different each 911 feels and yet has a very distinct commonality.

Bad weather Audi, good weather Porsche.
Except I don't drive the Porsche to work (~1 mile), because I would arrive very late taking all kinds of detours on the way..... ![]() Edit: sorry missed the part of multiple Porsche's...

You should just rotate them all since it is bad to not drive a car, Each porsche has slight variations in sensations but the overall feel is the same so the question is the same as if you were Mormon and had many wifes, who do you chose to be with each night?

I drive the '85 more regularly cause it was cheaper and already has tons of miles on it. I drive it to work on Fridays only and around town in the summer. The turbo comes out for the special trips, dinners, etc.. usually when the wife wants to come along.
The Toyota is normally the daily driver and the bikes are for whenever I feel like it. I also have a Yamaha TW200 enduro that I should add to my list. That is for riding to the trails.

For a while I had a '75 with Webers and extra wt. from a lot of lead soundproofing the PO put in, and a '73 with CIS and a stiff suspension from that car's PO. Both had 2.7L Mg case engines with SSIs.
I wound up driving the '75 a lot more just because of the Webers. Note - it had no cam changes and surely had little or no more power, and due to the extra wt. (lead + later, heavier year) it didn't accelerate as well as the '73. It was just the pure sensory experience of the Webers... I've since sold the '75 and given the '73 a little - ah - additional motivation with a 3.2L with PMO carbs, a bit more cam, and etc.

I own only one, and because of the work I've put into mine, would hesitate owning a second or third, and having to repeat most of the modifications. These are great cars, but if I wanted a second plaything, it would most probably be an entirely different automobile.
