Yahoooo, 1st engine drop complete !

All I can say is this:

I am not going to install it back in by myself. It fought me every inch of the way, but it is out and the JB welded/cracked shift rod is out. The best tool I had to do this is Wayne's book (101 Projects for your 911) , it was such a help.

Now for a cool pic, I think I need to retrofit a set of 911 wheels on my mower....LOL

I also got the trunk carpet kit in and new hood shocks going in tomorrow. I also have a ft chin spoiler and a rear 930 tail going to body shop tomorrow for paint.

It is Miller time now

Captain Morgan and I did it all by ourselves

It got caught on the left CV axle, then the jack I was using was too tall and the car was not high enough...yes not enough clearance for fan. Then the car started to move as I was jacking it up higher...this was scary as I could see the ft wheels moving over the 2x4 and me running to catch the car....a old tire chalk fixed that trick. Then finally, wella it is out....and me and the Captain are taking a break for the night

It was not really that bad, but it seemed like forever dropping it an inch, checking, dropping another inch, checking again and again and again.

Thanks for all that helped me with my questions here.

Now it is time to paint and clean everything on that motor!

You need a bud to help - if he doesn't hold your drink, then he should at least hold a cell phone and be ready to dial 911 if something happens.

I would use your experience to put the engine back in - with at least 1 helper - it will be a lot easier next time.

Congratulations! Good feeling when it is done. Did mine a couple of months ago and also needed the car a couple of inches higher. This was my helper for the drop.

I dropped and installed engines in 911 by myself before and I prefer at least one more person. Funny, it always needs to be a couple of inches taller no matter what I try.

Pulled mine and reinstalled this last week. I agree, not the easiest engine to pull, but then again, I've done a lot harder. All the uping and downing is what gets you. I used a cherry picker (engine hoist) to get the extra height, since my brother owns one. One or two surprise electrical plugs, and a trannie ground, but otherwise not too bad. Oh, and the best thing, it started right up after the install!

Hmmmm, Nations rent is right up the road. I wonder how my wife would react to a fork lift in the garage for a few days! Great idea!
