rock solid clutch
hey guys...
sorry not a 911 question...but a hyralic clutch ques. my 82SC had a clutch cable...so... anyways my 1993 cherokee's clutch pedal went rock solid. I stepped on the pedal in frustration (stuck on the 405) and snapped the connector to the M/C I was able to drive home without a clutch... replaced the M/C thinking that was the problem...still nothing... and found the hydralic line is leaking. so before I go and replace that...what the heck caused the rock hard clutch pedal? if it can be diagnosed as a definate clutch replacement I would just like to start doing that instead of doing all the peripheral stuff one by one thanks MJ |

gotta be something inside the bellhousing. maybe something inherent to jeeps. maybe the throwout bearing is seized to the guide tube it slides on. maybe the disc came apart and is keeping the pressure plate from moving.

your pedal should attach to a slave cylinder, not the master cylinder. the slave sits down by the pedal and the master is on top of the engine or firewall. you say your pedal went hard as a rock, was this when it hit the floor or before? if before i would guess the slave cylinder rod got pinched by the pedal. this could be cause by the pedal attachment to the rod being dislocated or the push rod for the slave cylinder failed. either way its not the master cylinder.
