replacing rear parking brake shoes

Just getting into the job and found that my rear brake sensors are not even connected! Where do they actually plug into?

Real help needed regarding getting the rear discs off. My 911 guide book says there are two screws (flat screwdriver) to remove but can only see 2 phillips screws on the hub. Anyone can help would muchly appreciate

Make sure the emergency brake is not engaged, take the two screws out of the hub and the rear disc should slide off. It may take a quick whack with a rubber mallet to shake it loose. Otherwise, it's pretty straight forward.

As far as the brake sensors go, there is a slot on the pad for the sensor to stick into. If the pads do not have the slots they are most likely aftermarket performance or track pads.
If your brakes squeak when you use them you might have a high performance pad in there. If you are using the car for the street, you won't need the high heat performance pads.

Thanks for the tips guys. One more problem - the 2 phillips screws on the hub do not want to move. I tried with a 3/8 phillips socket and nearly chewed the head of the screw. Can't believe they are that soft. I have sprayed with some WD40 to help free them and will attempt again tomorrow. any ideas about removing the 2 screws.

If the WD40 doesn't work, get some PB Blaster or Kroil to loosen up the screws...

Good luck

You might need an impact driver. It is a screw driver that you tap with a hammer and it turns the screws. They are pretty inexpensive if you don't have one. (Canadian Tire special should do it!)

Thanks Tony, the impact gun was a success. Put the new parking brake shoes on. As I was contemplating putting the new brake pads on and looking at my calipers swinging in the breeze above me. I thought now is the time surely to paint the calipers. So I am going to research it a bit - I am thinking of sand blasting them and then a powder coat of yellow or red. My 911 is a silver (diamond blue according to the factory) so I am not sure which colour yet. Thanks again.

WD-40 is worthless for work like this..only Kroil, Pb Blaster, and Wurth Rost-Off ! seem to work ....

WD= "Water displacing"...not a true penetrating oil...use it as intended, maybe on the inside of dizzy caps, for instance....
