fuel pump replacement

I think the fuel pump on my 80 sc died. When I try to start it fires for a brief second as if cold strt is working and then quits. Lifting the sensor plate with the switch in run elicits nothing. I even removed cover plate over fuel pump and applied direct current to both terminals of fuel pump and got nothing. Is this an easy replacement? Thanks

Yeah,

If you are getting power to the pump, but it does not go around, then it is replacement time. Wayne calls it a 2 out of 5 (where 5 is an engine rebuild). I have done mine but it is still in the back on the 74'. I would replace the fuel lines while you are down there.

If you replace the fuel line, tie on a strong piece (I used about 25'+) of poly small diameter rope to the end of the old line to use as a guide when pulling the new line through. I did it myself while lying under the car. Feeding the new line in from the front and pulling with the rope from the back. I tied and duct taped the rope onto the new line to create a bullet head. I think this helped get the new line through with ease. I think in doing so, it could eliminate removal of the console for access.
